My name is John Meglen and I want to welcome you to J.M. Auto Service. I started my own repair shop in 1982 about one mile west of West Eveleth and was the only employee. As time went on and the demand for the type of service I provided grew additional employees and equipment were added. We soon out grew that facility and needed more room to handle the workload. In 1992 we started construction of our present shop on

highway 53 in Eveleth and opened for business on January 11, 1993.
Our goal has always been to provide customers with the best possible automotive service. As all good leaders do, I have surrounded myself with great people.
We are able to track recommended services that will help you maintain one of your largest investments. The result will be a better-maintained vehicle with less unexpected problems and breakdowns.
My role is to make sure we have quality people in place to respond to your needs. We continually look for ways to improve on the service we provide. We invest in people!
Val Carpenter, Service Consultant
Val started at J.M. Auto Service in 1995 and most likely the person you will talk to when you have your vehicle serviced with us. You will like working with Val as she always greets everybody with a smile, is easy to talk to, will take the time to listen to you and never has a bad day. Val communicates your concerns directly to the technicians and is involved with the service process from start to finish virtually eliminating the dreaded lack of communication issues often found in customer service. Val along with the other staff at J.M. Auto Service will make taking care of your vehicle easy for you.
Tom Filipovich, Parts Specialist and Estimator
Tom is an ASE Certified parts specialist and is the person that makes sure not just any part gets put on your vehicle. He will make sure the parts are high quality and are at a good value. Tom is often more informed than the people working the counters of our suppliers. Tom not only makes sure the right parts are installed but he makes sure they are here on time and often before your car is even at or shop insuring the repair process goes smoothly and there are minimal delays in getting your vehicle returned to you. Tony Nygaard, Technician
Tony came to us fresh out of the Eveleth Technical College in 2002. Tony was exactly what the shop was looking for when we hired him. He is an ASE Certified Technician and continues to grow as a technician. Tony is as nice a young man as you will find. Tony is not only dedicated to taking care of the customers at J.M Auto Service he gives of himself to the community. He is the fire chief of his town’s volunteer fire department, is on the city council and is involved in his church.
John Tretter, Technician
John relocated back to the Iron Range from Montana and came to work for us in 2006. An automotive shop is doing well to have an ASE Certified Master Technician working for them. Not only is John Master Certified but is also L1 certified. L1 is the highest level of ASE certification available. You would be hard pressed to find anybody with more ability to service a modern automobile anywhere.
Louis Meglen, Technician
Nobody is quite sure when Louis started at J.M Auto Service as John had him running the floor scrubbing machine when he could hardly see over the top of it. Louis went to college and worked at the shop part time. It was that part time employment doing oil changes and tire work that convinced him the automotive field was for him.
Daniel Lindquist, Custodian
Daniel started cleaning the shop while in high school in 2002 and is still the reason our shop looks as good as it does today. Daniel does pretty much anything we ask of him and never gives us an excuse why he can’t do it.
John Meglen, Owner
John was the first and only employee when he started J.M. Auto Service in 1982. He is an ASE Certified Master Technician and a graduate of the Automotive Management Institute. He also is a very proud graduate of the school of hard knocks. Actually John is still doing post graduate work at the school of hard knocks.
When you’re in the automotive service business the technology never stands still. This is why every employee of J.M. Auto Service is involved in some type of training all the time.
Environmentally Green:
All of the fluids removed from vehicles goes into holding tanks and then it is picked up by a company specializing in reprocessing of the fluids for use in different application. 95% of our fluids come in bulk meaning we have no empty fluid container to dispose of. Our batteries are returned and recycled into new batteries. Tires are recycled and used for many different products. Our shop rags are sent to a company that extracts the fluids they absorbed for recycling. Of course our paper, cardboard and metal is recycled. Even the fluids that drop on our shop floor are captured for recycling. |
